Confined Space Australian Standard 2865
In many work areas there are confined spaces. These areas are often so small that employees are limited as to how they can enter them, work within them and exit them safely. These conditions, together with the risk of contaminated air make the environment especially hazardous to work within.
There are confined spaces in many sectors: They include, waste management companies, the chemical and petrochemical industries, oil and gas production, shipping, transport and logistics, container construction and maintenance, agriculture etc. Applications include working in or on tanks, boilers and fractionating columns, containers, silos, shafts and canals, pits, pipes, cavities and storage rooms, sewage plants etc.
