Objective:
This course is designed as an introduction to safe work at heights. The program will cover appropriate selection and correct use of Height Safety Equipment in compliance with current Australian Standards, Regulations, Codes of Practice and manufacturers recommendations. The course is generic, in that the presentation will be conducted on major brands of equipment. This course aims at providing participants with theoretical and practical knowledge on how to secure a safe work environment when working where there may be a risk of falling.

This course is conducted over one (1) day.
Recommended For:
People involved in occupations in which they could during the course of their employment be required to work where they may be at risk of a fall; whether the risk is from a height, ledge or ground level.

• The responsibilities of employers and employees under the relevant Acts and Regulations (Code of Practice Prevention of falls at workplaces).
• The requirements of Australian Standards AS1891.1, AS1891.2, AS1891.3 AS1891.4, AS1891.3-1997, AS2626-1983, AS4488.1, AS4488.2- 1997 and AS4626-1983.
• Maintenance and Inspection of Equipment.
• Wearing and Fitting Equipment correctly.
• Full body harnesses, selection and use.
• Lanyard assemblies, selection and use.
• Fall arrest blocks, selection and use.
• Appropriate attachment and anchor points.
• Horizontal life lines.
• Safe systems of work.
• Basic Rescue Systems and procedures.
• Team Building.
Learning Outcomes:
On completion of this course, participants will be able to:
• Demonstrate a basic understanding of the requirements for Working Safely at Heights.
• Demonstrate the correct selection and use of Height Safety Equipment for the task.
• Demonstrate basic knowledge of Harness and Lanyard Inspection.
• Demonstrate safe work procedures
• Identify hazards whilst at heights.
Assessment:
Participants will be assessed to a competency standard on certain important aspects of the course content. Assessment is divided up into two components. Theoretical assessment will be conducted in the way of a short answer multiple-choice questionnaire. The practical assessment will consist of a series of practical exercises of attendees inspecting and using equipment correctly and in a safe manner. Successful participants will receive a Statement of Attainment.
Delivery:
The theoretical component of this course is conducted in a classroom environment and the practical component is conducted in our specialised and specifically designed training area.
Pre-Requisite:
• Participants must be capable of under going moderate physical activity.
48 hours notice is required in writing prior to the cancellation of a course. A 50% cancellation fee will apply to cancellations without this prior notice.
