OPERATE BREATHING APPARATUS
Course Description
This course is designed to give a basic understanding of the operation and practical understanding of the operation and practical wearing of self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). Course involves Physiology, irrespirable atmospheres, safety procedures, wearing and operation of a BA set, entry control, moving in smoke and darkness, structural search and rescue, servicing procedure, and basic rescue systems.
Duration
This course is conducted over one 1 day.
Assessment
Participants will be assessed to a competency standard on certain important aspects of the course content. Assessment is divided up into two components. Theoretical assessment will be conducted in the way of a short answer multiple-choice questionnaire. The practical assessment will consist of a series of practical exercises of attendees inspecting and using equipment correctly. Successful participants will receive Certificate.
Delivery
The theoretical component of this course is conducted in a classroom environment and the practical component is conducted in our specialised and specifically designed training area.
Pre-Requisite:
Be medically fit and have no fear of confined spaces.
Limit facial hair growth to trimmed moustaches only (no beards) as per Australian Standards AS-1715-1994
