Participants who successfully complete this course will obtain a Statement of Attainment that is recognised within the Australian Qualifications Training Framework.
Gas Test Atmospheres is designed to give participants the knowledge they need to identify atmospheric hazards and hazards associated with toxic gases, combustible gases and oxygen. Participants will be informed of relevant legislation/ Australian standards, risk assessments and hazard control.
Participants will learn when gas detection is needed, what gas levels are safe and what to do with when an unsafe atmosphere is detected. Identifying the correct gas monitor for the job, maintaining gas detection equipment, how and why to use accessories that come with gas monitors.
At the completion of this course participants will be able to asses these hazards and gas levels as well as use and care for their gas detection equipment.
Participants will be required to complete a range of practical exercises in a simulated environment and a written assessment in order to achieve competency in this unit
This unit content is also covered in the full Enter Confined Space Course.
It is preferred that the gas detectors used for the practical training is the actual equipment used on the job however, an extensive range of equipment is provided at the training facility.
This course is conducted over half a day.
The course starts at 8:30am and finishes at 12:00pm unless otherwise arranged by the client.
People involved in occupations in which they could during the course of their employment may be required to use gas detection equipment or enter environments that may have hazardous atmospheres.
