INTRODUCTION
The course is designed to provide;

• An out line of the legislation relating to use of EDD’s/CDD’s

• A guide to the options on how to comply

• A background in how to equipment can be utilised to achieve this.

• The details behind the equipment standards to ensure usage within the intended purpose

• The criteria for issue, ID marking, inspection, record keeping, maintenance, storage and withdrawal from service.

• The practical skills to safety deploy & use an EDD/CDD’s

INTRODUCTION
Theory

• Legislation

• Requirement for emergency rescue & recovery planning and provision of equipment

• Requirements under AS 2550.10-1994 Cranes- Safe use- Part 10: Elevating work platforms

• Requirements under National Certificate of Competency for EWP over 11m boom

• Identify situations requiring use of EDD/CDD (extreme emergency situations).

• Inspection and record keeping procedures

• Limitations of use and when to retire form service

• Characteristics & Limitations of equipment and anchors

COURSE SYLLABUS
Practical

• Identification of equipment using samples

• Inspection of equipment to establish serviceability

• Identification of correct anchorage point

• Identification of damages equipment using samples

• Identification of different styles of EDD/CDD equipment using samples

• Demonstrate safety emergency descent from elevated platform using nominated EDD/CDD

• Demonstrate ground crew belay/assistance for evacuee

ASSESSMENT OF CANDIDATES

• All candidates will carry out a multiple choice test covering the key points of the course. If a candidate gets a total score less then 100% then the trainer will explore the candidates’ knowledge of the topic. Where the candidate has a good knowledge of the topic the result may be amended.

Candidates will be assessed on physical performance of EDD/CDD escape and are required to clearly demonstrate correct pre-operational EDD/CDD checks, verification of correct anchor point, safe exit and descent from a fixed or mobile elevated platform and post operational checks and equipment stowage.
